The Wider Curriculum
At Leigh we bring learning to life through a host of visits and visitors. In the past year we have welcomed farmers, firemen, representatives from Guide Dogs for the Blind, artists and art historians into school, to name but a few.
Themed days are also a wonderful way to enhance learning and recently Leigh pupils have relished opportunities to experience a day as a World War 2 evacuee, a Victorian schoolchild, a participant at a Tudor feast, explore science through an interactive workshop and history through an Egyptian Day. Visits have included trips to the Science Museum, Whitstable, London Transport Museum, Aquarium and Hever Castle, as well as theatre trips.
Each year the Year 6 children take part in a week long activity-based residential visit and gain a great deal from the experience.
