Clubs can enhance a child’s learning and enjoyment at school and can help them to acquire and develop new and existing skills. In particular children of primary school age benefit enormously from the exposure to activities that they otherwise might not encounter and we are passionate about being able to offer as wide a range of clubs as is possible for the children of Leigh Primary School.
Staff provide a number of lunchtime and after school clubs. At lunchtime these clubs will include: homework, chess, tag rugby, singing, Lego and book club. Some external providers run: French, football squad and athletics club. We are also very fortunate to have some Year 6 students which are going to be running clubs that they have planned and prepared themselves (with a staff member present). These clubs include: Harry Potter Club, Puzzle Club and Singing Club. We are very proud of the fact that our Year 6 children are running clubs and it demonstrates their independence and enthusiasm for learning.
After school we have some teacher led clubs such as Choir and Drawing. Netball club runs for Year 5 and 6 as the team competes in competitions. Sport is also well catered for after school with a range of external providers offering their services.
Due to Government Guidance around the COVID pandemic, we are in the process of reviewing all extra-curricular activities to see what is going to be possible from Term 2. We will updating you very soon with a timetable of clubs and information on how to sign up with External Providers and School Staff.
