To maintain and strengthen the exceptional educational provision at Leigh Primary School by investing in our children, our environment and our future. Through the Governor’s Choice Fund, we ensure that every child—especially those who need us most—benefits from enriched learning, wider opportunities and the highest standards of care and support.

What is the Governor’s Choice Fund?
The Governor’s Choice Fund has been established to enrich and safeguard the high-quality educational experience we provide at Leigh Primary School. In a challenging economic climate and a period of reduced government funding across all schools, the Fund ensures we continue to deliver exceptional teaching, enriching opportunities and a nurturing environment for every pupil. It is a branch of the Leigh Primary School PTA where funds are delegated and spent in line with the Governors’ choice. This enables a wider variety of projects to be funded. It does not diminish the wonderful work of the PTA who run events for our families and funds are spent on projects that benefit every child.
What’s the difference?
The PTA raises money through voluntary events and activities to fund extra experiences and resources that enhance school life for all pupils and funds are voted on by the Parents of the PTA in line with their constitution.
The Governors’ Choice Fund supports targeted or priority spending decided by the governing body, often to benefit learning, wellbeing, or specific school needs where funding is limited. The money is donated to the PTA charity as a separate fund and passed to the school. Spend is discussed and voted upon at Governors’ meetings. These are in line with the aims of Governors’ Choice Fund Aims and can fund a broader range of projects set out below:

- Enhancing Our Learning Environments
We are proud of our beautiful village setting. This Fund helps maintain and develop our school environments, wellbeing spaces, playgrounds and field—areas that inspire curiosity, creativity and confidence, yet sit beyond the scope of standard funding. Of course this includes our classrooms.
- Improving Access and Opportunity
We are committed to ensuring that no child misses out. The Fund aims to provide support to ensure that all pupils can participate fully in school life and access the opportunities they deserve.
- Supporting Children with Specific Learning Difficulties
The Fund will allow the governing body to invest in specialist resources, interventions and training designed to reduce barriers and promote accelerated progress, including vulnerable learners.
- Enriching the Curriculum for All
From high-quality books, resources and technology to enhanced enrichment opportunities, the Fund strengthens our curriculum and enriches the educational journey of every child.

Why Standing Orders Make a Big Difference
We are hugely grateful for any donations the school receives. One off donations are warmly welcomed, however if you feel you can make a regular monthly donation through a standing order this is also an option.
Even a modest monthly gift creates steady, reliable support that makes a significant impact across the year.
